Finding out the sex on November 1
Craig and I went to the doctor this morning and all is good! The ultrasound technician checked for the bone (or cartilage?) in the bridge of the baby's nose and that there's fluid in the neck and both checked out positive. That's a good thing because if either of those two indicators weren't there, we'd have a higher risk for downs syndrom. I had some blood work done that will confirm in about a week and a half. We got 10-15 picture taken of the baby. It's so exciting! I teared up a little seeing the baby move. We could see the head, face, spine, arms, hands (that kept reaching for the face), tummy, bum, legs and feet. It's so amazing that you can see that much already. We're at 13 weeks and 1 day.
We'll go back for our next doctors appointment on October 15th and then FINALLY on November 1st we'll have the super thorough ultrasound done. Which means we'll find out the sex of the baby, and yes, I have to know! It will be so wonderful to call the baby he/she instead of "it". I also can't wait to start shopping! Craig and I both got a feeling during the ultrasound that the baby will be a boy. I'm kind of hoping for a girl :) We'll see what God has planned though! The only thing the doctor said was a little unusual is that my placenta is "low lying" so we'll be praying that it goes into place over the next few weeks.

It's Official!
Finally, we can tell the world that we're having a baby!!!
We've been waiting 13 long weeks to tell you. We shared the news with some close friends and immediate family, but we couldn't wait to tell everyone. I made the announcement to my bosses on Tuesday so now it's out in the open. So far, we know that the due date is March 24th, 2011 (2 days after Craig's birthday). We won't know the baby's sex until around Nov 3rd (20 weeks) - whenever our doctors appointment falls. We'll definitely keep you posted as soon as we find out. I've also had some blood work done and everything is going great. I haven't had any morning sickness so I'm very lucky! I had a stomach bug for 24 hours over labor day and could barely handle that, let alone 3 months of it.
Thanks for checking out our blog and we look forward to keeping you in the loop during this very exciting time in our lives.
